Random Acts of Kindness-Pay It Forward Challenge

January is a dreary month. With little sunlight and bitter cold, it is so easy for the winter blues to hit. I have already been talking to Mike about things we can do in the upcoming weekends to keep ourselves excited and to avoid falling into a rut. Sometimes happiness comes easily (hello summertime), but this time of year, sometimes we need a little extra nudge. That is why I am so invite you all to participate in a Pay It Forward challenge!

One of the things I love about my partnership with Cameron’s Coffee is their focus on making every day brighter. Yes, even those dreary winter days I’m talking about! Optimism is weaved into everything they do-from their brightly colored packaging, tot he cute inspiring quotes on their mugs, to the causes they support! I obviously love their coffee too, but more importantly, working with them has been such an inspiration to always see the world as a ‘mug half full’ kind of place 🙂

That is why I am so excited to invite you all to participate in a Pay It Forward Challenge! What is something you could do this month to brew up some kindness and brighten someone else’s day?

*This post is written in collaboration with Cameron’s Coffee. All thoughts and opinions expressed are solely my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Stang&Co.*

Pay It Forward Challenge

I think just about everyone has, at some point in the last few years, been touched by a pay it forward line at a coffee shop or drive thru. It is always a pleasant surprise, and it never gets old. Of course, the key idea of pay it forward is that you then take care of the car behind you. Or, if you are at the end of the line, you pay it forward by doing a kind action for someone else throughout the day. Something about knowing you have worked with a group of strangers to brighten the days of others just feels good, doesn’t it!?

Think Beyond The Drive Through

You don’t need to hit up a drive through line to pay it forward. While I love the movement, I also want to challenge you all to think bigger and get creative. What is a way that you can brighten someone else’s day? One of the best things about the pay it forward challenge is that it allows you to take a moment to truly think about how you can make someone’s day brighter. Do you have someone in your life who could use a little extra love and kindness this month?

This month, my newborn nephew started at our daycare. My boys were SO excited to have their new cousin join them, but I know that the start of any new child rocks the boat. Our daycare provider is the sweetest soul and cares so deeply for our children. She is like family to our boys, but it can be easy to take her care for granted. So, with the addition of a new child and a bunch of kiddos coming in off of Christmas break, I decided to treat her to a bag of coffee (and some chocolate). It was the perfect compliment to the mug I gave her at Christmas, aptly labeled Voted Most Likely To Need Coffee.

You guys, Lincoln LOVED this idea and I cannot tell you how excited he was to give a special gift to ‘his friend Kristi’. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, we are lucky to have such a wonderful daycare provider. It makes me so proud and it is such a humble reminder to see the joy my children feel from doing something kind for someone they care for! Kindness is good for the soul.

Join The Challenge

I would like to say that I am always the one starting the pay it forward line. But, that is not always the case. I am always so delighted when it happens to ME. So why do I not take the initiate to surprise others with random acts of kindness more often? Thanks to Cameron’s, I am inspired to make the change right here, right now. Join me in a pay it forward challenge! Leave a comment on this post and let me know what your act of kindness was. And, more importantly, how did you feel afterwards!? I promise, in the act of brightening someone else’s day, you will brighten your own, too!

Valentine’s Fashion from Amazon

Another day, another Valentine’s themed post 😉 I figured why not keep the ball rolling and round the week out with V-Day post number three! It may not seem close, but Valentine’s Day is only a month a way and the time to snag your Valentine’s Fashion and plan your Galentine’s brunch is NOW. If you missed it, you can find my Valentine’s bar cart post here, and another roundup of cute V-Day sweaters here! Below are some cute Valentine’s fashion finds from Amazon! They all shipped prime, so you can’t go wrong!

Valentine’s Fashion from Amazon

This first look is definitely my favorite of the haul. The top is a lightweight sweatshirt. The material is jersey, not cotton, so it is nice and breathable, but still plenty cozy. The heart detail is on just one of the sleeves, so it is festive but incredibly simple. This is a great option for someone who wants to dress up for the holiday, but might have a pizza date with the kids on the agenda (most likely my plans!)

This sweater is similar to the first one! You can see that the heart patches are on both elbows, and they are a sewn on suede fabric. The sweater is a very lightweight knit material, with lots of stretch. The sleeves and length work well for my tall frame!

How cute is this top!? First and foremost, the sleeves are a bit short. This is a ‘tall girl’ problem, and on most I do not think the sleeve length will be an issue. But, if you have length arms, the sleeves will not go all the way to your wrists. Now, onto the cute details! The heart is a crushed velvet, and is split between the body and the arm. So, when you are standing at ease with your arm to your side, it forms a heart! Such a fun detail, this top is a total conversation piece and for someone who loves a playful outfit. The body length is good, and the bottom is banded, so don’t size down in this one.

The last look is a cute and cozy t-shirt that can be worn off the shoulder. This option is perfect for wearing over a bralette! Similar to the white option above, the sleeves on this shirt run a bit short, so tall girls be aware. You can get it in multiple colors, but I love how the gray and white works for the holiday but is not one bit flashy! I went up one size in this one, and am wearing an extra large.

Valentine’s Day Bar Cart

Valentine’s Day has become one of my favorite holidays. I’m not overly romantic, I don’t live for fancy dinners and flowers. But, I love the color pink! And, in a house full of boys, I take full advantage of the opportunity to throw up as much pink and glitter as I can manage. Plus, winter is so dreary, and starts getting especially long right around February. Valentine’s Day is a fun excuse to decorate, indulge in some chocolate, and celebrate love! And, what better way to do something fun and festive at home than with a Valentine’s Day bar cart!

Valentine’s Day Bart Cart

My bar cart has been one of my favorite purchases of the year. I snagged it at Home Goods, but found very similar options here and here. I decided it would be fun to create a little brunch cart for a V-Day get together, and I would be lying if I said the confetti isn’t being kept around for awhile 😉 The pink and glitter are just too much fun!

The bubbly bar banner is one I have actually had for a few years. I featured it at my sister’s Rose All Day shower, and my sister in law’s Lavender and Eucalyptus shower! I always wonder if it’s worth holding onto, and I always end up finding new ways to use it 🙂 The tassel garland is a few years old, but I found a similar option here.

The gold sequin XO is another item that is a few years old, but I found it here! I have used it every year, it is always one of my favorite pieces to pull out! A few faux roses in a pink vase added a fun girly touch.

I had to add some donuts-the sprinkles are too much fun (and too delicious!) Another item that is so perfect to have for entertaining and party decor is a white cake stand. I keep mine in the kitchen year round, and it is always one of the first things I grab when entertaining.

I included champagne, orange juice, and sparkling grape juice, or ‘bubby deuce’ as my son calls it 🙂 The candy hearts are such a fun addition to your drink to for a little bit of extra sugar and a festive touch. Or, just to snack on!

How cute are the stirrers below!? I found mine at the local dollar store, but Amazon has lots of similar options, too! These are the little touches that always make me feel like decor is taken to the next level.

If you asked me any day of the week, I would choose stemless champagne flutes over traditional flutes. They feel just as classy, but are so much nicer to hold. And gone is the stress of worrying about breaking the stems whenever you wash them 😉

I think one of the biggest takeaways with entertaining is that you don’t have to do much to add a festive touch! Everything feels a little bit brighter and more cheerful when candy hearts, glitter, and a glass of bubbly are involved! I hope you loved my tips and tricks to styling a Valentine’s Day bar cart.
