Tie Front Top and Tall Grass

Slowly but surely, we have been getting our yard up to speed. Trust me when I say that moving into a yard that hasn’t been landscaped is stressful. When that yard happens to be nearly 5 acres, your head starts to spin! But we are approaching a point where we finally feel like we have a decent YARD, so that next year we can really get to some landscaping. In the meantime, I love sneaking out for photos by our tall wild grass. It is not easy on the feet, but it sure is pretty! And now enough about grass and yard work, onto this tie front top!

I am such a sucker for tie tie front top trend that is going around. They are seriously SO flattering, and comfortable. Since there is a tie that also allows it to be loose in other areas, a tie front top makes you look fabulous while hiding any imperfections (or post taco belly bulges). And these high waisted jeans are the icing on the cake; they cover your belly and hold everything in while also being SO comfortable. This option is another favorite of mine;

What is your favorite summer trend this year? I love seeing styles come back in that were around when we were kids! Of course, some of them (I am talking about YOU platform shoes) can stay in the 90s where we left them 😉

Friday Favorites: Hello Summer

Well, that escalated quickly. We said adios winter and hello summer in the course of a few weeks. This entire week we enjoyed temps in the 80s, and as much time outside as possible! I cannot tell you how excited I am to be back in the season where we live off of grilled burgers and watermelon. So, in celebration of soaking in this glorious season, I am sharing some of my favorite ways to say HELLO SUMMER!

Back to Basics Coffee Station

I shared recently that I decided to ditch my single brew coffee machine and go to a Ninja Coffee Bar Station. I thought dealing with the coffee grounds would drive me crazy, but really, I am loving it! My absolute favorite way to say hello summer is to switch over to iced coffee. I am also trying to be more aware of how much I spend on coffee drinks, so I committed to making my favorite Iced Cinnamon Almond Milk Macchiatos at home! I even started grinding my own coffee beans (I buy this bulk bag), and then storing them in my pretty new coffee canister. I honestly didn’t notice the difference in taste when you fresh grind your own beans, but I am here to say it is 100% worth a bit of extra time. I add 1-2 pumps of cinnamon dolce syrup, which I found out you can buy right at Starbucks! They literally pulled it off their storage rack and rang it right up for me! Then, I brew on the ‘specialty brew’ setting on my Coffee Bar over ice, and top with almond milk. And for the last, and most necessary step ;-), I found this caramel sauce online which is perfect for topping off drinks! Now, I literally have no excuse for ever buying coffee outside of the house. Even though, SHHH, I still do. What can I say, it’s my vice!

Fun Tie Front Top

Top c/o Pink Blush (sold out, but identical top here and similar here!) // Bralette (similar here and here) Jeans // Sunglasses // Shoes (sold out, similar here) // Bag (old, similar here) // Watch

Sometimes you find a piece of clothing that you fall in love with, and this top (similar) is one of those items! It is so loose and flowy, and was basically MADE to be worn over a pretty bralette. I have had it less than two weeks, and have already worn it more than once. It would also be perfect thrown on over a swimsuit top. I just cannot get enough, and you can find a TON of color options here, too!

Oster Air Fryer

I will be honest, I was not sure what all of the fuss was about over air fryers. But I was able to try out an Oster AIr Fryer for the first time this past week, and I am SOLD. Ours is equipped with a spinning basket, so the food is constantly in motion which prevents it from sticking. The first thing I tried making was good old fashioned chicken nuggets for the boys. They came out SO crispy and cooked perfectly, and that was without adding ANY oil. The next day I tried making mini tacos with just a tablespoon of oil for the entire batch. They were, no joke, just as good as any I have ever had from a deep fryer. You can use it to cook meats, veggies, and just about anything else you could imagine. And also-THERE IS NO PREHEATING. I had crispy chicken nuggets in 15 minutes flat with zero time waiting for the fryer to heat up. That alone pretty much had me sold!

Pink Paloma Cocktail

It makes perfect sense that in a week where we say HELLO SUMMER that I include two different drinks, right?! 😉 After years of hating on tequila, something in me snapped and suddenly I cannot get enough of margaritas. This cocktail is a nice way to get that margarita taste with a little bit less sweetness. It is definitely tarte, so adding a sugar cube or a little bit of simple syrup can be a good option if it is too much for you. This is the perfect drink when you aren’t craving something overly sweet, but still want something fruity!

  • 1.5 oz tequila
  • 3 oz grapefruit juice
  • top with grapefruit sparkling water
  • OPTIONAL: 1 tablespoon simple syrup or one sugar cube

Combine all ingredients in shaker and blend. Serve over ice and enjoy!

Some of you may know we use essential oils in our home, and while I love the company we buy from and the wonders of oils, I am also not above admitting when I find products from other brands that are a better fit for your family. My little guys basically LIVE outside lately, and putting sunscreen on can become so tedious. My sweet friend Ashton is constantly talking about Beautycounter, and I finally decided to try out the sunscreens. They come in stick form, which was a major selling point for me because I HATE when my boys get lotion everywhere! So far, I have been incredibly happy with it! It doesn’t have an overwhelming smell, goes on well, and is also protecting my boys well, which is the most important thing. They also just came out with a new and improved sunscreen line. If you are looking for safer products (trust me, I tried LOTS of ‘safe’ sun options since having little ones, and none have done it for me. So after lots of failures, I am seriously LOVING this stuff!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. We don’t have much on the agenda, so I will probably just be saying HELLO WEEKEND and HELLO SUMMER with a drink in my hand and time spent in the yard. And maybe we will finally get a table at my favorite restaurant that we have now tried (and FAILED) to eat at three times 😉

Friday Favorites: Linco de Mayo

Ya see what I did in that title? 😉 If you didn’t know, my baby boy was born on Cinco de Mayo. My husband was so disappointed in my party planning skills this year. HOW did I not name the party for our dear sweet Lincoln ‘Linco de Mayo’. I about died laughing! Luckily the boy has a lifetime of Cinco de Mayo birthdays ahead of him. Still, despite his party theme having NOTHING to do with the celebration, we did jump on the opportunity to serve tacos (and probably margs) at his family party. We will be prepping today and tomorrow, but before we dive into the throes of party planning, I wanted to share some favorites!

The many faces of Lincoln

In honor of the birthday boy, I thought it was fitting that I share some of his faces. He makes SO many funny faces. Charisma is not something that our boy is lacking, that is for sure. His personality grows more and more by the minute. I am fairly certain we are going to have our hands full with him, but I am also confident he is going to be SO MUCH FUN.

2. 1-800 Flowers

I was so excited this weekend when I received a bouquet of flowers delivered directly to our front door! You guys, I do not think I have ever seen a bouquet of that many roses. I tried to count them, and I think this was three dozen! The boys had so MUCH fun seeing them, and Jackson asked right away if he could have one to bring to Kristi (our daycare provider). It was SO sweet, and with so many roses, I happily obliged in letting each boy bring a flower to her. Raise them kind, and raise them to be gentlemen, right?!

3. Another Giveaway with Lily Jade

Did you catch my post last week sharing my new lifestyle bag from Lily Jade? I have a giveaway going over on my Instagram with them that lasts for a few more days, but we also teamed up to offer a smaller giveaway to one of my readers for a $375 store credit! Entering is SUPER easy, head over and be sure to enter!

4. Great American Eagle Finds

Do any of you feel like you go through stages with the stores you like? Lately, I have been LOVING everything at American Eagle. I just love their denim and shorts, but they have a lot of other great items, too. I snagged this pair of jeans and this pair of black denim this week, and I LOVE how they fit. The black pair does run a bit slimmer than other denim from AE, so if you are between sizes I would. What is is about destroyed knees that is so great? I also have last year’s style of these lounge shorts, and plan to get these as well. They are SO soft and perfect for those hot summer days when you want to be comfortable and cool. And I am not sure what it is, but I cannot get enough of basics, and these henley tanks are so perfect for throwing on over a swimsuit or pretty bralette.

5. Pretty White Tank Top

Earlier this week, I shared a fun new tank top from Pink Blush. I have been a long time fan of their clothing, it always fits so well and is made of such good quality. I have become a bigger fan of neutrals and basics since becoming a mom, but I love the little pom and lace details that spice up this top! You can read the full post here for all of the details!

I hope you all have a great weekend. Be sure to head back next week, I will have party details from Lincoln’s birthday, and a fun giveaway for any of you who have ANY sort of partying coming up!

Spring Fashion Finds: Delicate White Tank Top

Unfortunately, I still seem to be going on. And on. And on about the weather. There is something so liberating about stepping outside without a jacket on after months of hibernation. I have been wearing as many tank tops and cute shirts as I can lately now that my wardrobe isn’t hidden beneath a parka. The moment I laid eyes on this delicate white tank top, I knew I had to have it!

I love the pretty flower detail at the bustline, and I am loving the crochet detail at the bottom. I am a sucker for a good white tank top, and just love how this one is spruced up with fun details. It is amazing how a details can transform a delicate white tank top.

Pink Blush has been one of my long time favorite boutiques. I actually first started wearing their clothing when I was pregnant with Lincoln, but they quickly transitioned to one of my go-to stores for dresses and casual items after he was born! I am always amazed at the fun pieces I am able to find on their website.

What trends do you most look forward to in the spring? Are you a basics kind of gal, or do you love to go for the fun, trendy styles!?
