Weekly Roundup

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you all had the best week. It was our first ‘norma’ week since before the holidays. Immediately after the new year we dealt with multiple rounds of sickness, so it felt so nice to actually work a regular week. Of course, it also felt long, after so many short weeks/works from home days. I am popping in to share a weekly roundup before we get slammed with a snow storm this afternoon. Tis the season in Minnesota, right!?

Weekly Roundup

Amazon Try On

I shared an Amazon try-on over on Instagram this week, and it included some of my favorite pieces ever! I asked what your favorite was, and, literally, 99% of people responded that it was the brown sweater! It is as cute in person as online 🙂 All try ons are saved to my highlights on Instagram, so you can head over to check them out!

Athleisure Look

This cozy look is one of my favorite outfits I have shot this winter. For whatever reason, I tend to not shoot many ‘casual’ looks, but the reality is I am definitely rocking leggings and jogger pants most of the time on the weekend! 🙂 My coatigan is from Chicwish, and i love how it can be totally dressed up or down. All other items are linked below-my white tennis shoes are under $25 and my hat is from amazon and comes in about twenty flavas!

Cozy Hearts

Another day, another Valentine’s Day sweater 😉 I just could not resist this one-the pink hearts are FUZZY and are so soft. The inside is actually lined with the same fuzzy material (I would say it is an ‘eyelash’ material) and it is so darn cozy to wear. It comes in joint sizing, I am wearing a large/extra-large.

The Cutest Running Shoes

No pun intended, but RUN to get these running shoes! They are currently in stock in all sizes except for 11, and ship free! These sold out in 24 hours the last time I saw them in stock, they are definitely a hot ticket item. The sizing is unisex so they run big, so while many shoes often run small on me (I am a ‘big’ 11), these fit me perfectly! Otherwise, go down 1/2 size!

New Skincare

I do not know what is going on this winter, but my skin is more dry than it has EVER been. I will blame it on turning 30 this fall-I had a conversation with a group of ladies last weekend and EVERYONE swore your body KNOWS when you turn 30 and makes sure that you feel old 😉 This cleansing oil can be used to remove makeup, but is also a cleanser for dry/sensitive skin. I have been using it this week in place of my normal facewash to give my skin a break. Trust me, it leaves your skin feeling SO clean, even though it is an oil. I was skeptical, but am sold! Use code MACKENSEY to snag 20% off of your order through January 31st!

Cleanser (take 20% off with code MACKENSEY-goes down to 15% on February 1st!)

Runway Show

A little bit of real life FUN to share below! Last weekend I was able to walk in another runway show for our local wedding expo. I actually did a modeling job for the local brides magazine right after we got married, and have been involved and doing the runway shows ever since. I have even walked in a few with a baby bump, which was entertaining!

I think that this was my FAVORITE dress of the show. During the shows, we wear so many dresses and are taking them off and putting them on so quickly, we rarely actually get a good look at them. When I saw the picture of the back of this dress, I was blown away by how beautiful it is. So darn pretty!

I called this my ‘black swan dress’. Seriously, playing dress up at these shows is one of my favorite things!

I hope you all have the best weekend! They have already ordered an early dismissal for tomorrow in preparation for the snow storm, and Mike’s famous mac n cheese is on the menu for dinner, so I am a happy camper!

Weekly Roundup

Whew, what a week! A week after fall break is always an adjustment, and our little homebody family had an atypical week to boot! On Wednesday, we had a Halloween party at my office, where the boys got to wear their costumes, go on a scavenger hunt, and have pizza. They had SO much fun, and I love seeing them so excited to learn more about where I spend my days. Then, last night I went down to the Twin Cities to celebrate Evereve’s 15th birthday! Their entire website is 10% off through the weekend to celebrate. I had so much fun getting to FINALLY meet some other Minnesota bloggers. I live outside of the city, so I don’t get to as many events as I would like. But it is so much fun to meet these ladies in person!

To cap off the week, we have a halloween party for our neighborhood tonight! The boys love wearing their costumes, and we have a young neighborhood. I am looking forward to meeting some of the new families and indulging in an adult beverage 🙂 Before we head into the weekly, my weekly roundup is below!

Weekly Roundup

The Cutest Photobomber

Did you catch the cute little photobomber on my Instagram the other day? I am NOT a cat person, but this little guy came walking up as I took some photos, and was so darn sweet. I had to run away to get inside because the second he left my legs, he immediately came right back to me. Mike, you sure you don’t want a cat? 🙂 My top was just restocked on Amazon, and my jeans are at an unheard of sale price of just $47 this week! These have been around for a few years and I have NEVER seen them marked so low. If you have ever had your eye on these jeans, this is the sale to snag them!

Tan and Black

I think my absolute favorite color combination this fall is tan and black. It is neutral, but still gives off a slightly edgy vibe! I shared this poncho styled four ways last month, and this look was by far the most popular. Bonus-my faux leather leggings are on sale this weekend only and ship free! I am lusting over this adorable cheetah faux leather leggings, too!

Styling A Cheetah Skirt In The Winter

This skirt is one of my favorite items from the summer, and I just wasn’t ready to put it away just because the temps have already dropped here in Minnesota. I think it is so easy to dismiss skirts when it gets cold, but they can still be styled and worn! I wore mine over a pair of black tights (I live and swear by these), a white sweater, and a moto jacket. It instantly feels edgy and fun, and I was so darn warm and cozy. I styled it for the summer in this post if you want to see how versatile it is, and love that I can use it year round!

New Fall and Holiday Coffee Flavors

I shared this post featuring the new holiday flavors and blends I have been brewing this season. But so many of you asked about this sweater that I figured it was worth a reshare! It is soft, cozy, and is the definition of fall in sweater form 🙂 The slits are high, so you will need a cami with this one. It also comes olive green and black!

I hope you all have the best weekend. Still in denial over the fact that Halloween is NEXT WEEK and my favorite month of the year is just about over. I am holding onto every last fall day that I can!

Weekly Roundup

Happy Friday, you guys! This week has been a long one. On Tuesday, I swore it was Thursday. And on Thursday, Lincoln woke up sick. As a mom of young kiddos, you always know sickness is coming in the fall, but it never gets easier to deal with missing work, juggling child care, and still trying to make sure they are getting what they need to heal. Being a mom is hard-so moms of little kids, I am throwing an extra cheers out to you all this weekend as a reminder that we are not alone on those tough days! Onto prettier things, below is a weekly roundup of what I shared here on the blog and over on my Instagram. The leaves have just about peeked, and I am trying to capture all the pretty fall photos that we can!

On Instagram

Henley Sweater

There was so much love for this henley sweater this week! I will be straightforward in saying it itches a bit-I know that is an automatic NO GO for some people, so I like to mention it right away 😉 It isn’t overwhelming, but there is a touch of wool. Otherwise, it is so cute! The buttons are oversized and functional, and the red color is so perfect for fall.

red-oversized-button-henley-sweater-chicwish

This pretty white sweater was so loved by you all this week. For reference, I am wearing a size large tall, and it fits very well. Get your true size in this one! I have been wearing my Spanx faux leather leggings with so many outfits lately, I love how they are so comfy but still can be dressed up. Keep your eyes peeled-I may have a Spanx post coming soon!

Another share over on Instagram late last week was this pretty poncho sweater! I snagged it on sale for just $17, and it is so nice for the price. Incredibly soft and the prettiest colors, it just screams fall. There are no arm holes, and it is cut to naturally fall over your arms but is truly more of a scarf. I layered it over a white sweater with duck boots. It did snow last weekend, after all (and already melted, thank goodness!)

If I could suggest one trend item that you should buy this fall, it is a good moto jacket. They can be worn so many ways, are warm, and I love the little bit of edge they add to an outfit. The one I am wearing below is a tall fit, and I linked a few others that also come in tall! If you don’t need the extra length, I have a ton of options below at various price points. I have tried most of them on in stores, and the one from Old Navy, ASOS, and Target are my favorites!

This sweater was a part of my Amazon finds post, and is a great fall sweater. It runs true to size, but if you want it extra slouchy, go up one. I have been loving neutral colors with a pop of black, and this one is a statement piece for sure. Also, I feel like I need to shout it from the rooftops that my black studded booties are still in stock in SO MANY SIZES, and are around $25 when you use the on site promo code!

Recent Amazon Finds

Did you catch my recent Amazon finds post earlier this week? These posts are always so popular-people love love them some Amazon! The most loved item by far was this henley top. It runs true to size, I got a large and it was roomy and long. The sleeves work well if you are tall, too! You can grab it in multiple colors, but there is something I just love about a good white shirt!

Last Week’s Roundup

Last week we lost Mike’s grandpa, and even though I had a post drafted, I just couldn’t find the time to commit to getting it live. But I had already put in the work so I decided to post it on Monday. You can see all of my favorites from last week, including my spooky console table!

I hope you all have the best weekend. Can you believe we are already halfway through October!? Only two more weekends until Halloween!

Weekly Roundup

Happy Friday, friends! This has been a LONG and gloomy week. I cannot remember the last time it rained this much! Needless to say, the weekend forecast of 70s and sunshine looks SO good right now! I may or may not, but most definitely am, planning to bring the boys to grab some fall decor and official get started on some decorations around the house! Keep reading to see a weekly roundup of what I have been sharing on the blog, on Instagram, and some great sales happening!

I turned 30!

I still cannot believe my 20s are over. It was a darn good decade, but I am excited for the 30s and all that they bring. My hope is that it is slightly less chaotic, and involves just a touch more sleep 😉 I rounded up 30 facts about me for my birthday, you can head here to read it and see what might surprise you!

My dress is currently on sale and is SO good. I am wearing a medium, but it is definitely tight, so go with your normal size and do not size down. My bag is the cutest little clutch under $30, and my earrings are a lookalike for this pair at a third of the price! And if you need a fun pair of pink heels, these are for you!

Old Navy Fall Finds

I rounded up some fall favorites from Old Navy this week, and you can find them all here. They are absolutely killing it with all of their colors right now. There are so many yellow, green, and burgundy options, perfect for family photos or the pumpkin patch. The look below is the most simple of the bunch, but also one of my favorites!

Top // Jeans // Booties // Phone case (use code stangandco for 10% off)

Target Poncho

Last night I shared this poncho over on Instagram, and you all loved it! I paired it with some black denim and these booties (which I am obviously wearing every single day). The poncho comes in TONS of colors, and is one size fits all. It is such a perfect fall piece, and can be layered over anything which makes it so versatile!

Poncho // Black Jeans // Bag // Booties

Colorblock Sweater

More fall fashion, big surprise right!? I am a little terrified of what’s to come with how quickly it has already cooled off here in the midwest, but I have been LOVING being able to wear so many sweaters already. This one is night and lightweight, making it perfect for temps in the 60s and 70s. It comes in a peach colored option too, which is so cute!

Sweater // Jeans // Phone Case

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! We don’t have much on the agenda, but Mike made a casual mention of Buffalo Wild Wings so now I am all sorts of excited 😉 Keep reading below to see my weekly roundup of this weekend’s sales, and a few of my wish list items below (some are on MEGA sale right now!)

30 Facts For My 30th Birthday!

YOU GUYS. First of all, I am not sure if I know how to start a sentence without throwing ‘you guys’ in there somewhere 😉 But seriously you guys, I cannot believe I am turning 30. Does it make sense to say that I cannot believe I am already that old, yet at the same time sometimes I wonder how in the heck I am still in my 20s. Dating an older man did that to me I think-he is always six years ahead of me. So, while I am sitting over here freaking out about turning 30, he is entering is late 30s. Still, when he has been in his 30s for so long already it seems strange to me that I haven’t even entered the dirty thirty club yet-until today!

You can shop my black feather dress HERE, my gold clutch HERE,  my shoes HERE, and my designer dupe earrings HERE

Despite slightly freaking out over losing my youth (and metabolism, I’m afraid) I am really excited to see what my 30s will hold. My 20s were magical. I fell in love, graduated college, got married, had a baby, graduated with my master’s, had another baby, built a house, and totally changed my career. I don’t think it is possible to look back at my 20s and not feel a sense of accomplishment and overall, gratefulness for all of the good things that we experienced. As I turn 30, I also celebrate a full decade with Michael. That man has officially held my heart for a third of my life. *mind blown* My 20s were just really, really good. But gosh, they were busy. I am so excited to enjoy so many new experiences and stages as I enter my 30s. Kids who can start doing actual chores? Family outings that aren’t dictated by nap time? Establishing my career and finally feeling truly settled? I am just so excited.

To celebrate the big 3-0, I thought it would be fun to share 30 facts about me! This blog has changed so much in the past year, and while that change with less focus on our personal life has been intentional, I still think it is fun to give a little behind the scenes from time to time 🙂 Keep reading for 30 facts about me-some might surprise you!

30 Facts For My 30th Birthday

  1. When I was in elementary school, I noticed a weird bump by my knee. Turns out, it was an osteochondroma, or a benign bone tumor. I had surgery to have it removed and have a fun little scar on my knee as a result. I like to tell people I just grew an extra bone, because I’m extra like that 😉
  2. So many people are surprised to find out I was a competitive figure skater until I turned 15. I hung up my skates to join my high school dance team, but I did a love of traveling and training. I had nailed most of the ‘double’ jumps, and was working on my double axel!

  3.  I grew up listening to classic rock. Over the past year or two, Mike and I have fallen back in love with the classics like Queen, Elton John, and the Beatles, and I am HERE FOR IT. Nothing compares to old rock and I wish we still had music like that being made today.

  4. In high school, I took both Journalism and Yearbook as courses. Despite always being a science girl, I clearly still liked my writing 😉 I have definitely moved on from my love of science, haha! But my love for writing and creating has stayed with me!

  5.  Speaking of moving on from science, I always thought I would be a doctor. I got straight As, math and science came easily to me, and it just made sense being I seemed to be good at those things. And then I wen to college and realized it would be a decade of organic chemistry and biology courses, and I changed my plans almost immediately! O chem was NOT for me!

  6. I hate ice cream sandwiches. I absolutely love ice cream, but for whatever reason I am so disappointed every time I eat one, I would just rather not. It is one of very few desserts that I have NO problem passing up.

  7.  I am an excellent baker, but mike is the better cook. I always get distracted, or do too many things at once, and my cooking just doesn’t turn out right. Mike always gets it right, and his recipes turn out so well. Of course to be fair, the kitchen is always MUCH cleaner after I use it!

  8. I could quote just about every episode of The Office and have lost track of how many times we have watched the series. It feels almost like a part of our relationship, and is our little inside joke because we love it equally.

  9.  I have always been an early riser. But I somehow married someone who rises WAY earlier than me. I thought 6am was early, but somehow I live in a house where I am the one sleeping in!

  10. Of the places I have traveled, Taormina, Silicy is a hidden treasure and a place I would LOVE to go back to. From what I have seen in photos, it looks a lot like the Amalfi Coast, but the culture in Siciliy is SO different than the mainland in Italy. I remember feeling like I was in a dream in that city. It seemed surreal that people actually live and work in a place so historic and so beautiful!

  11. I have officially been blogging for over five years (that is so crazy to even think! This blog is as old as Jackson!) I started it as a motherhood blog, but always incorporated a little bit of fashion. About a year ago, I made a conscious decision to mostly remove the kiddos. I did this for their protection, and to create a better balance for my family. I am not a blogger who ‘found my groove’ right away, but I love where I am at right now!

  12. Potato chips are my weakness. I try to not even keep them in the house because once I sit down with a bag, it will be gone. Self control goes right out the window when I see a bag of sour cream and onion.

  13. I love spicy food. The hotter, the better. I had super spicy wings at Buffalo Wild Wings, and Jackson was born the next day. Probably not a coincidence? But seriously, give me all the spice!

  14. I never imagined being a boy mom, but aside from the constant fart jokes and super heroes yelling in my face, I couldn’t love it more! 😉 I truly believe we get the exact children that we were meant to have.

  15. I am 6 feet tall. I feel like most people know that by now, but I always like to throw it in so people aren’t shocked if they meet me in person! I was 5’10 by the 5th grade, and have ALWAYS been the tall girl. I cannot say I am 100% confident in my height, but I love it more now than I ever have before.

  16. I complain about living in Minnesota, but I will never move. People either stay here forever, or leave and never come back. I fall in the first category!

  17. I take off my wedding ring and put on comfy pants first thing when I get home from work. I hate feeling restricted at all, and wish I could work from home solely for the purpose of not having to wear real pants.

  18. I still work my full time job. I recently transitioned from health care to a digital media role, and life has been crazy but is finally starting to feel ‘normal’ again.

  19. I don’t really like sugary candy, like sour patch kids, gummy worms, etc. I will eat it, but I choose chocolate every single time.

  20. I played the flute in band all through high school. I was pretty good, too! I still have it in a case in my room, but I am afraid to pull it out because I am not ready for my boys to want to play that!

  21. I also took piano lessons! We do not currently have a piano, but I really want the boys to take lessons. It was always a huge stress reliever for me.

  22. Mike and I both come from families that had two boys and two girls. It made pairing people up for our wedding pretty darn easy 😉

  23. I was a vegetarian for a year in high school. Then, I started eating turkey/chicken in college because I was struggling to find things to eat that weren’t carbs. And then I started dating a guy whose family butchers their own cows…so now I eat it all. I still prefer chicken and seafood most of the time, but I love a good cheeseburger!

  24. If I could travel anywhere, I would love to go to Ireland. I have so many bucket list locations, but I just love so much about Ireland.

  25. We eat way too much pizza in our house. It is our favorite food, and I look forward to our Thursday night pizza all week long. Mike and I also love to order the ‘cream cheese popper’ pizza, which has cream cheese, pepperoni, and jalapenos. We order it after the kids go to bed when we want to be selfish.

  26. I am still recovering from how disappointed I was with the Game of Thrones series finale. The whole last season just felt rushed and lazy. And I have now lost anyone who didn’t watch 😉

  27. Speaking of disappointing series endings, ALSO STILL NOT OVER HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. When the last episode finished, I literally looked at Mike and said, well there’s years of my life I will never get back. Seriously, so dumb!

  28. When Mike and I were dating, we would get a quart of ice cream from Coldstone and have them put in a clear gummy bear. We would bet on something and whoever got the gummy bear won. It is one of those silly little things that will always be special to me.

  29. My mom did in home daycare until I was 8 or 9 years old. So while I got to ‘stay home’, I grew up in a daycare environment!

  30. My ultimate high school crush was the boy that Kirsten Dunst kissed at the end of ‘Bring It On’. I loved him!

Whew, thirty facts is a lot! I feel like I may have just started drifting off into storytelling territory, so if you made it to the end, congrats! And a huge shoutout to people who do these lists every year-I can’t imagine coming up with 40 facts! Thank you all SO much for your love and support. It is just crazy to think that I was just 24 when I started this blog. Thirty seemed so far away, and yet when I step back and look at HOW MUCH LIVING we have done since I started this little space, it blows my mind. Some days I cannot believe I am already thirty, and some days I cannot believe I have these kids and this life and am just now exiting my twenties. I can only hope that my thirties are as good to me as my twenties were. Cheers to the next decade!

Weekly Roundup

Happy Friday you guys, we made it through the week! I am off today, and we are heading to the lake this afternoon. I don’t know why, but I kept thinking we were a day ahead all week long, so I am SO glad it was a short week! Jackson turns F-I-V-E tomorrow, and I cannot believe it. He was adamant about having a party, so I am doing as much prep as possible this morning so we have things ready for his bash on Sunday! I cannot wait to share his theme. The boys are SO into parties and have been counting down to wearing their outfits on Sunday! Otherwise, keep reading for my weekly roundup, and be sure to head to my Instagram to enter a Target Giveaway!

Colorblock Sweater

One of my favorite items from this weekly roundup. I feel like if the pumpkin spice latte invented a sweater, this would be it! 😉 We have already had some brief previews of fall weather here in Minnesota, and now that I get to dress more casual for work, I knew I needed this sweater. It is so perfect for those cozy fall days, but ALSO how cute does it pair with shorts!? Long sleeves and shorts will forever be one of my favorite combos!

Sweater // Similar Shorts // Phone Case (code stangandco for 10% off!)

Rainbow Dress

You all went crazy over the rainbow dress I shared this week! I have a blog post up with more shots and views of it that you can read here. It runs true to size, but if you are between sizes, I would go up one as it does not have stretch. It is fully lined, and is slightly shorter in the front. With code JU5 you can snag an extra $5 off! This is one of those dresses that just feels magical! I will be sharing a post next week on different ways to style on it, so be sure to check back for that!

The Coziest Cardigan

I have wanted to get one of these cardigans for years, and I finally took advantage during the #nsale and fell in love! It is SO good you guys. The fabric is beyond soft, but also feels durable and so high quality. It really is hard to explain, but I have never felt anything like it and it is still on sale for a few more days! Sizes and colors keep going in and out of stock, but just keep refreshing as returns are coming in lots!

Cardigan // Tank Top // Jeans // Sandals // Bag

Sunshine Vibes

This post was popular for a fun reason-it was shot by my boys! I have mastered taking photos with my tripod, because in all honesty that is the easiest option. I hate asking people for help, so I self shoot as much as possible! But this week I decided to hand the camera over to my boys who are 3 and 5 (tomorrow!) and see what happens. And they do such a good job! I adjust all the settings beforehand, but they learned so quickly how to get the object of the photo in focus! Having them help is so much fun, and they really seem to love it to and feel so grown up. More photography by Lincoln coming your way, so stay tuned!

Casual Office Look

Another photo courtesy of Lincoln 😉 I have been loving getting to dress down for work. We still have SOME standards of course, but  jeans and cute tees are fair game! I have gotten some questions on these shoes lately, too. They are SO comfortable and perfect for walking in!

Lavender and Eucalyptus Bridal Shower

I shared all of the details from the Lavender and Eucalyptus bridal shower that I hosted for my sister in law a few weeks ago! New Styles with Chicwish

I don’t think it is any secret that one of my favorite new retailers is ChicWish. I shared some spring favorites recently, and I have absolutely fallen in love with their gorgeous items, and am so excited to share a few new ones with you today! Keep reading for my favorite new styles with ChicWish, and be sure to let me know what styles you would like to see more of!

Pretty Smocked Top

You guys, how gorgeous is this top!? It is plenty long, and the sides are cut longer to give some dimension. I love to style it with a front tuck, but it falls so beautifully that you can wear it either way!

All of the Florals

I fell in love with this pretty watercolor floral skirt the moment I saw it. The website describes it as a maxi skirt, but when I let it hit my natural waist, it felt more like a tea length! I paired it with a white tank top and some neutral heels, and love how classic the whole look feels!

Pretty White Top

Another gorgeous item that I wanted the second I saw it was this white top. I love the cinched waist, the lace detailing, and let’s be real, nothing beats a white top in the summer! I will say it runs small, so if you want extra length or room, size up!

The Perfect Romper

I need to start talking about this romper by being transparent and saying tall girls, this will not work for you. I would have disregarded it from my post entirely, but the quality and design is there If this piece worked on my LONG body it would without a doubt be added to my closet to wear out because it is truly the prettiest romper I have EVER worn. If you are petite or have a shorter torso, I cannot recommend this piece more! The bodice is definitely short, but if that is not an issue for you, this is one of the most beautiful rompers you will find!

Maxi Dresses (In Tall!)

I shared this dress over on my Instagram a few weeks ago, and it was a total hit! Not only does it come in multiple colors, but it is also a Chicwish dress that comes in tall! At 6 feet tall, this goes all of the way to the ground on me and is so flattering. The pleated detailing is so pretty, and the design is good for all body types!

All In The Details

This dress you guys, THIS DRESS. It has so many stunning details, and is absolutely gorgeous! From the ombre skirt, to the ruffle detail at the neckline, to the delicate floral pattern, this is one of the most stunning dresses I have ever worn. It is incredibly modest, but still so feminine. If you want a show stopper, THIS IS IT!
