It is APRIL-which is usually one of my favorite months of the year. Except for April of 2018. I think all of us in Minnesota can agree to just block that April of endless snow out of our minds forever. Still, April is the time where we finally start seeing things turn green, comfortable temperatures, and LOTS of time spent outside. So it makes perfect sense for Earth Day to fall during this month. To celebrate Earth Day in addition to my love for coffee, I wanted to share some sustainable coffee options with you!
This post is written in collaboration with Cameron’s Coffee. All thoughts and opinions expressed are solely my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Stang&Co!
As I have shared before, I swapped out my individual serve coffee machine for my Ninja Coffee Bar last year. One cup of coffee just isn’t usually enough for me in the mornings, so I like to brew a pot! However, I have individual serve machines at work and love to keep pods on hand. And, my in laws also have an individual serve coffee machine, and I was so excited to treat my mother in law to a few of my new favorite flavors from Cameron’s Coffee.
Not all individual serve cups are created equal. One thing I always hated when we had one in our home was how wasteful I felt. All of that plastic getting thrown away every day really did start to bother me. Especially because you know I was always having more than one 😉 To me, going back to a pot was not only more efficient, but more eco friendly. I had no idea that Cameron’s has EcoPods, and they are made from plant based materials and are 100% compostable.*
The EcoPods have an industrially compostable* paper lid, ring, and filter. Not only are these pods better for the environment, but your coffee tastes better too. It is being brewed through a filter and not a plastic cup, so mother nature wins, and the flavor is better so you win, too!
The newest flavor I tried out this month is Highlander Grog. You guys-SO good. It has rum and butterscotch flavor, so I may or may not have an idea of what to mix it with on cold mornings at the lake 😉 Just about all flavors come in grounds as well as EcoPods, so no matter how you brew, you will find your favorite flavor!
I have a challenge for you this month in honor of Earth Day. Try swapping out your plastic cups for my new favorite coffee brand Cameron’s EcoPod option. Or, you can buy grounds and a reusable filter! Whether you brew a pot of coffee every morning or individual cups, you don’t need to create plastic waste!
*Certified compostable in industrial facilities. Check locally, as they facilities may not be available in your area.
